As "The Agency" (2024 UK release; 10 episodes varying from 50-60 min) opens, we are introduced to Martian, a CIA operative who is suddenly called back to London after six years in Africa. We then go to Belarus, where a clearly drunk man gets into his car and, after being chased by the Belarusian police, crashes but survives.
At this point we are 10 minutes into episode 1
A couple of comments: this miniseries is based on the acclaimed previous French TV series “Le Bureau des Legendes”. It is the latest film from Oscar-winning British director Joe Wright (“Darkest Hour”). A LOT happens as episode 1 progresses (at least 3 parallel story lines), and it took a while to see and understand the big picture. By the time we get to episode 2, I was fully invested in this, as there is tension and drama everywhere.

This miniseries benefits quite a bit from Michael Fassbender’s (as the Martian) excellent performance. By the end of episode 2, I was (and am) ready to add more. The first two episodes started streaming on SHO a few days ago. Can’t wait!
